Cafe 976, San Diego
| Cafe 976 in Pacific Beach is like a roller coaster. The minute you walk up and see the lush huge garden patio, you know you are in for some something special. Nice ambience inside too - Cafe 976 is a converted cottage - in fact its one of the oldest buildings in Pacific Beach. Truly beautiful, with some great local art for sale inside to compliment too. Cafe 976 just went through a big interior renovation too, without losing its initial quaint appeal. However, Cafe 976 has some problems, which is a shame. |
| Firstly, if you are bringing a laptop and want to work or study, its going to be hard. The lack of free wireless doesn't help (why charge for it?), neither does the lack of places to plug your laptop in, and the music is at times too loud. My other main gripe is the quality of the coffee - for some reason their coffee tastes pretty average, and the espresso drinks are very ordinary. However, Cafe 976 makes up for this by having excellent food - their breakfast is great, as are their lunch offerings. The sandwiches are very good, and they even offer mexican, indian and thai plates too! Overall, Cafe 976 has potential though, and its perfect if you just want to relax with a book or friends. |
